CVBC Acts 17:1-15
Acts 17 invites us into a powerful narrative where the early church transforms entire cities not through political force or social revolution, but through three profound commitments. First, they were devoted to preaching Christ from all of Scripture, showing how every passage from Genesis to Malachi points to the Messiah who would suffer, die, and rise again. Second, like the noble Bereans, they received God's word with eagerness, examining the Scriptures daily to verify truth. This wasn't blind acceptance but courageous inquiry, valuing God's word above all human opinion. Finally, they responded to the gospel by turning from idols—not just physical statues, but the heart idols we all struggle with: career, family, comfort, success. When we recognize that Jesus is Lord, everything else must come off the throne of our hearts. The accusation that these early believers were 'turning the world upside down' was actually a testimony to their faithfulness—they were turning a broken world right side up, back to God's original design
