CVBC Matthew 6:9 "Hallowed Be Your Name"

May 31, 2026    Luke Wartgow

This sermon explored the first petition of the Lord's Prayer, examining what it means to hallow—or set apart as holy—the name of God. We discovered that this isn't about making God's name more holy than it already is, but rather about our hearts being transformed to recognize and honor the holiness that has always been there. When we pray for God's name to be hallowed, we're asking that His glory would be displayed both in our lives and throughout the world. This petition reminds us that prayer isn't about bending God's will to ours, but about allowing God to bend our will to His. The beautiful truth is that when God's name is most glorified, we are most satisfied—His glory and our good are never in competition but always work together.
